Montenegro

Montenegro is a small but very beautiful state in the south of the Adriatic and is known as the ‘Pearl of the Mediterranean’ due to its exquisite natural beauty, glorious sandy beaches, clear lakes, fast rivers and gorgeous mountains.

It is a land of true contrast – relax and swim in the blue Adriatic Sea or go ski-ing on the slopes of the magnificent mountain Durmitor.

Rich in architectural and cultural heritage, the diversity of landscapes and climates makes Montenegro a desirable charter destination.

In the turbulent recent history of the Balkans, Montenegro fortunately remained intact preserving its rich diversity of culture, and resulting in a combination of modern age and traditional towns and villages. An unforgettable experience the coast of Montenegro offers an extremely interesting sailing itinerary. With 72 km of beaches, and many with well preserved ancient old towns there are many places you must visit. The Old town of Kotor is listed with UNESCO world heritage sites.

Boka Kotorska (Bay of Kotor), is said to be one of the most beautiful fjords in Europe, where the Adriatic sea cuts deep in mountains with the ancient small town of Perast and its islets. The historic town of Budva with its sandy beaches, great cafes and fabulous choice of restaurants. Fishing villages and picturesque resorts scatter the coast and all have their own specific charm from old pirate towns, great historical monuments, modern marinas, and beautiful architecture.

Climate

General weather for Montenegro

There is a special climate in the Bay of Kotor that receives lots of rain from the end of autumn and in winter as well. Its high mountains, 1000-1700 m high, act as a natural barrier for cyclones coming in from the sea. There is more rain in the region in the summer as well, more than in other coastal areas of Montenegro. During the springtime, the mountains will still be covered in snow, while the foothills will have fruit and flower blossoms.
